On 9/24/2023 at 12:01 pm I received a phone call from Varo bank from the customer service phone number saved in my contacts. The man said there was some suspect activity on my account. Ther were 3 transfer transactions pending. They were $200, $120, and $5. There was also a $200 cash advance taken out to cover the amount requested. He continued to ask questions to verify that it was me he was speaking to. He asked for my pin number and password which I gave in the belief that I was speaking to a legitimate representative of the bank. Sent to Dhop 1-786-376-1786. I was told it was in TN. He said they would all be canceled, and the money would be back in my account within 24 hours 9/25 On Monday I checked my account online and found that all transactions were sent and no money was in my account. They had changed my billing address to a FL address. I called the bank and spoke to a representative. He said they do not work on Sunday. I started a dispute for the money. I was told it would take 10 to 90 days for a decision to be made. I changed my pin and password and changed my address back to the correct mailing address. 9/28 I received a notice from the bank that all 3 disputed amounts were refused. My daughter in law called the phone number associated with the transaction. The man that answered was the same person that called me on Sunday 09/24/2023. I recognized the voice. He said it was a new phone # for him and he had no idea what she was talking about. We also called the bank on 09/28. I was instructed to file an appeal on their decision. They also said I should file with the police. My local police referred me to this site. 10/02 I received another call from Varo customer service at 12:43 pm. The voice was the same as the one that called on Sunday 09/24. He said there was suspicious activity on my account for $66. I opened my account on my other device and there was nothing there. I told him this then hung up. I called the bank back. The representative informed me they do not call customers directly. They send an email and request the customer call them. I sent screen shots of all calls received. He said an investigation would follow. 10/3 Stopped at Fostoria, OH Police Dept. The female officer referred me to my local office. She also gave me a copy of the information from the Attorney General Office on fraud and a form I can fill out and send in. Also stopped at Mt. Gilead, OH Police Office and was referred to the FBI fraud web site IC3. 10/5 Filed complaint with IC3 online. Sent appeal to bank including copy of call log showing incoming calls from Varo Bank, and a copy of IC3 complaint.

Varo Bank Scam
I received a visa card that I did not apply for. Interestingly enough, all 3 of my credit reports are frozen so they could not get any information on me to review my credit. When I called to get card canceled, they give nothing but trying to sell fraud merchandise and said that would have to go to fraud dept to follow up on and get back to me in an email. That would be hard to do since I never gave it to the rep even though she kept trying to get it. Long story short, I don't trust a company that refuses to cancel a credit card that was not requested and just said they would put a hold on it. Stay away from what you did'nt request.

Fake Check/Money Order
My husband had two $80 electronic withdrawals from his personal bank account today from varomoney. After further looking into this and talking with our bank, these transactions were taken out through his debit card. I attempted to call the 1-877 number our bank gave us that was attached to the transactions and it would not let me talk with anyone without putting my husband social security number in first. I would not do this so I found an email address: [email protected] and received immediate reply that stated the email I reached out with was not associated with a Varo account and that I needed to reach back out from the email connected to the Varo account. We do NOT have an account with Varo. The email further states if we need to update our email to again, call the 1-877 number that wants a social security number FIRST. I called our personal bank back and they said this definitely sounds like fraud and shut my husbands debit card down. He will be signing dispute paperwork tomorrow to further take action against these transactions and hopefully receive some resolve. This company is a FRAUD!
