A person going by the name of JMK made a post in a Facebook group called Dark Recovery Humor saying that he will bless people who answer his riddle. When I posted an answer, he asked me to send him a private message. When I did, he said that I was going to be awarded 2400.00. He asked if I had Cash App. He told me to go to the Bit Coin balance and send him the screenshot of it. He then sent me a screenshot of a pending transfer of 2400.00 into my account and said that I would have to proceed with the processing to complete the transfer. He said the process was going through a Cash App/Bit Coin mining glitch. He sent three short videos of people who received money the same way. (I guess to prove that it was legit) He said I would have to pay a temporary fee of 100.00 that would be refunded as soon as the money was approved. He sent me a picture of a New York state ID. The ID is read long ways and says New York State Identification Card Under 21/ Not For Federal Purposes. The personal information is as follows: "ID# ClassID DOB, Address"/ Under 18 Until 06-15-2022/ Under 21 Until 06-15-2025/ the date JUN 04 is stamped on the bottom. He said that he sent me the ID to prove that everything was legit because now I had his personal information, and I could track him down. I knew that it was a scam from the beginning, but I played along. I kept telling him that I didn't have that much money in my account and if he helped me pay the fee, I would split the money with him. We went back and forth for a couple of hours. I got him to agree to pay 77.00 and I would pay 23.00. Then, I told him that I was scared to send the money because I was afraid it was a scam, and I didn't want to lose what little money I had. I told him that I would message him the next day when I send the money. He used the exact same words in one of the videos he sent me so this is a copy paste of the beginning of the conversation: Congratulations ???????? you have been rewarded with an offer of $2400 Congratulations, your payment of $2400 has being Processed but for you to complete the process , you have to be verified with the business address where your payment is been processed to get the $2400 approved directly to your cash app balance I will guide you through how to go about that. it’s a cash app / bitcoin mining glitch it’s not coming directly from a cash app account that’s why it took the few process to complete to your cash app balance so be rest assured it doesn’t take forever to make the process. A lot of people have benefit from this so I really don’t want you to be skeptical about this at all. Once you make the verification process respectively you will accept your payment immediately with no delay. Carefully watch this video that’s how to go about the verification process it isn’t a long process just about 5-10min you will get it done to your cash app balance. It cost you just a temporary fee of $100 for the process to be verified with the business address to approve the $2400 to your cash app balance directly. Once you got your 2400 approved to your cash app balance you wait for 30min -1 hour for the 100 to be refunded back I shouldn’t have send you my ID but I want you to know you are safe and you can track me with that but trust me you will be happy doing this. I will guide you through the verification process and you will receive your payment immediately you get it done. Hope you got me right? He said that the accountant working on my transfer would message me to show that I had nothing to worry about, but it was just a message saying "Hey" "How are you doing", "I'm the accountant processing your payment" with no name given. The phone number used was 956-XXX-XXXX. I tried to find the original post that he made in the Facebook group, but I couldn't find it. I don't know if it was deleted or not.
