Credit Card Rate Reduction Scam
contacted via mobile by auto-dialed "Rachael from card member services" there is nothing wrong with your account but you are eligible to lower your rates, press 9 now to connect to an agent. I pressed 9 because my number in on the do not call list. I was connected with an agent and told him I'm on the do not call list and should not be contacted. He replied that he can't remove my number that I should instead be asking what he can do for me. I again asked to have my number removed from the call list, he said he couldn't help, I said that my number is on the do not call/solicit list and his company may not contact me. He then became belligerent, asked if I was deaf, I said remove my number and was threatened that he would post my number on Google. I asked for the name of the company he works for and he refused to provide it. My phone is for my use and convenience only, I am tired of these phone scams and they need to be stopped. This was clearly a masked number and not legitimately from my area code. How should these calls be handled by the public? I'm sure the next step in this scam would be to capture a credit card number.
