Publisher's Clearing House imposter
I received a phone call from an Unknown number, and although I normally don't answer calls from an unknown number, I just started a new job and thought maybe my new job was calling me. Anyway, the voice sounded like someone using a voice box device (like they had a hole in their throat and needed help to talk). The person asked for me by name and I said "What do you want?" He proceeded to tell me his name was David Brown, ID #DB2417P from the Publisher's Clearing House and asked if I remembered entering their sweepstakes, I said "No". He asked if I had heard of the company and I said yes. He said that they were coming to my home in 60 minutes and bringing me a check for $1.8 million and that I won and would receive another $7,000 per week for life. He asked me if I had received their email, I said no, he offered to send it again and asked for my email address. I said he could send it to whatever email address he had on file. He asked me to write down a confirmation #80219415466420 USA/WA and said his phone number was 912-715-6981. He then said the Price Patrol Truck, a GMC Denali, another car, Dave Sayer, himself, Mary White and Ed McMahon were coming to bring me my prize. He then said I needed to get a card from Walgreens and asked if I could go to Walgreens before they arrived, I said "Sure". I asked what card I should ask for at Walgreens and he said I should go and get a gift card and he would tell me which one and then I needed to put $350 on the Gift Card, I said, "No, I'm not doing that". He said, "But you have to in order to claim your prize". I said no and he hung up. I called the phone number he had provided and he answered the phone "Publisher's Clearing House, this is David Brown". I was suspicious from the start since I've never entered Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes and made sure I did not give any information like email address, etc. Of course I knew for sure when he said Ed McMahon was coming over since I was pretty sure he was dead (I looked it up after, he died in 2009!)! I hope NO ONE falls for this scam.
