On January 17, 2023, I google searched Amazon Customer Service’s phone number to talk to a live person concerning a subscription I needed to cancel. The person who answered the number that popped up had an accent and addressed himself as an Amazon representative, saying he could help me. He said in order to do so I needed to add the AnyDesk app to my iPhone and he walked me through how to do so. When the app was added, he asked me to read off the numbers given on the app. Then he directed me to sign into my Chase Bank account. I questioned why was all this necessary to cancel a subscription and he claimed he was following procedures. In hindsight this is when I should have disconnected the call. He kept assuring me my money was safe as he had me transfer funds through Zelle to my husband and son; and to a Zori who he claimed to be his manager. Still I wasn’t alert enough to panic and stop the call, trusting this guy even though it didn’t make sense. It wasn’t until he ask me to have my husband and son return the funds to my CashApp that I became worried but I could still see my money there once returned. So my thought then was to put the money back into my Bank asap! He said ok ma’am I’m going to help you reverse your money and he gave me some numbers to add to my CashApp. I immediately went back to my bank and saw that the money wasn’t there and this is when I panicked, screaming hysterically and I fit to tied. He said “ma’am I’ll give you all your money back on gift cards if you go to the nearest Walmart and call me once you reach the parking lot!” My husband interceded as he was trying to figure out what was going on and he stopped me from going to Walmart! I learned later from my bank that gift cards was another form of scamming. My heart was enraged; I was a mess and could hardly talk to the banker who made matters worse by saying they could do nothing to stop the Zelle transactions. My money was stolen! I was devastated! But mostly I felt so stupid that I listen to this man and not for one moment thought of him as a scammer! So naive and dumb! I am to this day, exactly 5 months since this happened, still trying to figure out what happened to my mind during this call. It was like he had me hypnotized and when I did wake up it was too late! I have reported this scam to the FBI, FCC, CFPB, and Illinois Attorney General. I have filed complaints against Chase’s Zelle, CashApp, AnyDesk App, Amazon and at this time Google as this impersonator used Google to intercept my call to Amazon Customer Service. I believe all these entities gave this criminal quick access to my money; made it too easy for him talking to an old lady just 5 days before my **** birthday, clueless to apps and all that stuff. Now, reporting how scammers can get you is my effort! People need to know and stay alert always! I never once thought something like this could happen to me!

This scammer responded to an Amazon Customer Service number I googled on 1/17/2023. I needed help with canceling an Amazon Prime Subscription which I was unable to do on the app. The guy said he could help but I would have to add the AnyDesk app to my iPhone. Didn’t make sense but he assured it was necessary and so I followed his instructions. Big mistake!!!! I know now that that app gave him full access to my iPhone and my bank app was what he was after! I was so dumb following his instructions opening my bank account. He saw that I had Zelle and CashApp and who the people were that I sent money to. I can’t explain what happen to my brain in that moment and why I didn’t catch on before he had me send money to my husband and my son via Zelle; then forwarded too my CashApp where the money disappeared! I lost it at this point when I realized I had been scammed. This man wasn’t done with me as he asked me to go to the nearest Walmart so he could refund me on gift cards. I begged him hysterically to return my money! I was pitifully stupid, dumbfounded. He even texted me the next morning to go to Walmart. I was a mess! Beat myself up over and over recounting in my head what happened and how I could have stopped it! My reason for reporting this embarrassing situation is to hopefully help others to know how these scammers are working out there! I just turned 80 years old and have been cautious not to open questionable emails, texts, and phone calls! However, this incident caught me totally off guard since I initiated the customer service call. I hope everyone is careful with 1) numbers googled for Amazon Customer Service or any number for that matter; 2) AnyDesk App; 3) Zelle App; 4) CashApp. These apps have made it too easy for scammers! This has been a very costly teachable moment for me!

Received a call from a person on or around February 18, 2022, identifying themselves as an Amazon Prime representative, calling to make a special offer for long time Prime members The offer was for 2 years of extended Prime membership at a reduced cost of $179.99. This was a significant reduction in cost over 2 years. I agreed and gave them my credit card number. I did not think anything of it until I received a bill in February of 2023 for the next year. I contacted Amazon Prime and they told me they do not make such offers over the phone and never have. I tried contacting the company at the phone number listed and it is out of service. American Express could do nothing as I had agreed to the service over the phone. I don't want anyone else being scammed from this company either.

Computer Protection Scam
I attempted to cancel the $379 renewal fee ( see the pic) and after 1 hour and 15 minutes, he asked me to send the money from his bank ($380) to my bank account. The $380 changed to $3,800 and he accused me of trying to rob him. I hung up and contacted my bank and shut everything down. The $3,800 did not transfer but they did manage to move $3,000 from my savings to my checking account. I thought this was legit because I hired them to protect my computers 3 years ago. Was I scammed then? Don’t know. He changed my computer’s password and I am now locked out of my computer. I have lost all information on my computer and everything on it is now compromised?

New City Movers
On 08/20/20, had movers come to my house - they were paid in full for $1,902.00. Charged me extra $600 for a "Smaller vehicle". I asked them to put my stuff in storage in NJ for a month until my closing happened. On 09/12/20, I emailed them and asked them to call me. I again emailed 09/21/20 and 09/23/20. No response. On 09/25/20, my attorney's office called them and they said they had a "server crash" and no one would be charged and nothing could be done at the moment. That same day, I submitted the request to move my stuff to the new address and automatically, received an invoice for $602.00. I emailed them twice for someone to call me because no one answered. Their phones are disconnected and no one is picking up. UI lost all my stuff, worth money and lost money for the services paid. They are using a DOT number that belongs to American Choice Van Lines, LLC, which is registered in California and has another location in NY. New City Movers isn't a registered business anywhere. The storage address they have on the invoice doens't even belong to them. UNTIL NOW, I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE MY STUFF IS.

New City Movers
Back in late June early July I contacted New City Moves via their website. For the first few weeks communication was perfectly fine. I chose this company because the website seemed very professional AND I saw excellent ratings! The move from ** to ** was only $1150 (160 cubic feet of storage not much at all) (6 plastic bins taped up, small 2 door cabinet, light weight bookshelf, and my bed) I paid the deposit via Zelle to “David Johnson” who told me he was from Jamaica (he had a cool accent so I asked him where he was from). The deposit was $230. They told me pick up would be Friday Aug 7. The called 3 days in a row stating arrival was pushed another day. They finally came Monday Aug 10th after 7p. I paid cash $575 as requested. They gave me paperwork and receipts. Which I have copies. Offered 30 days free storage with $2,000 of insurance FOR FREE! No extra charge let me make that clear. About 3 weeks before free storage was up, I contacted them multiple times through every phone number I ever used or saw via website and none of them even rang. I started emailing all 3 emails I had received from them through out July and August. No responses. So I would email every few days with “this is my second/third/etc attempt to contact” to start a trail of documentation. I received a call from a woman using google voice (fake phone number) on September 9th the day before free storage was up, saying our belongings are in transit and should expect within 1-7 business days and I would hear directly from the driver. It is now September 27th. I haven’t heard from anyone. I still “owe” $345 at delivery. But they have not kept their word or consistency with this business so should I even pay! It is not me they are cheating forget the bed set, it’s my * year old’s school clothes, winter clothes, and toys! I made that clear to the woman over the phone that the majority of the belongings are my child’s.

I received a phone call yesterday From a lady stating that she was with the processing service department and was attempting to serve a notice for judgement. I asked her where she was calling from and told her that I could meet her to get it. She then transferred me to a man that stated that I owed Guaranty Bank several thousand dollars. He refused to give me his name or phone number to return his call. They called private so I was unable to return there phone call. When i got to work the female left a voice mail to call 888-907-1768 and to make sure that payment was made in three days. Every time I call the number someone hangs up on me.
