Online Purchase
I received an email message from what appeared to be the McAfee Purchase Team indicating that I made an online purchase of the McAfee Security Ultimate Plus 3 year package. I called the customer support number indicated to dispute the charge of $349.55. I spoke with David who said the purchase was made with my card online in Alabama. He then wanted me to download Ulta Viewer to my personal computer. I told him I could not do that since I was at work and that could not be done on the company computer. He asked for a time to call me back (I told him 5:30 PM EST) when I would be at my personal computer and provided his phone number so I would be sure to take his call. I hung up and did a Google search for the McAfee Helpline. I spoke with a representative who assured me there was no record of the transaction and advised me not to take any calls from the number I was given and to report this matter as a scam. I marked the email as a Scam in my email account.
