I received a call from an individual claiming that an amazon purchase for an iPad and Headphone in the amount of $1100 was done on my amazon account and that it was flagged as suspicions, and if the purchase was not made by me to press 1 . After doing so i was transferred to an individual who had a aribic accent who claimed to be the IRS, the individual stated that my social security number, ID, and address was used to rent a Toyota Corolla. The individual stated that the Toyota was linked to my address as well as an address in Rowling Tx, and that the car was found abandon outside or Rowling. The individual stated that the car was found with multiple different credit cards and other documents to suggest a identity theft situation. The individual also stated that the car had drug residue which resulted in the DEA getting involved the individual gave me a Case# TX987237 and Warrant # TX377562. The individual asked if I would like to help the DEA find who it was that stole my identity, then transferred me to the DEA. The person claiming to be the DEA stated that they linked my name and social to a home in Rowling tx that had been raided and contained over 30 lbs. of cocaine. This raid would result in the freezing of all my assets until the investigation is complete and if I tried to use any bank accounts or credit cards linked to my social I would be charged with being the persons doing the crime. The individual began to ask how many credit cards I had, how many bank accounts I had and the balances, he even suggested that to ensure that I had some fund during the 48hr seizure of my accounts that I go to a government store such as CVS and purchase a Target Card using the information he was about to give me. At this point I had heard enough and hung because from the beginning I knew it was a scam.
