Phishing
I was called and told there was a warrant for my arrest due to missing a court date where I was called to be an expert witness for a client. This is plausible due to my job as a psychologist even though I was not informed of any court date or given a subpoena. I was told I needed to stay on the line and I couldn't tell anyone because that would affect the gag order due to HIPPA and I would be arrested immediately. They kept me on the phone for over three hours and had me send money through Walmart over codes they sent to me. Many of the codes did not work but three of them went through, one at Walmart in Burke and two at Walmart in Fairfax, for a total of 1,500 dollars. The number they called me from was the number listed for the Fairfax County Police Department. They also forced me to give them my social security number and threatened to have me arrested if I did not comply with that or comply with sending the money. They had my home address and said they would send someone to arrest me there.
