I could be wrong, but I have a sneaking suspicion that this company is illegitimate. I saw a post by "******* ****" within a Facebook group, advertising duct cleaning services. Since we are due for this service & wanted to support a business from the group, I commented on the post requesting more information. From there, he sent me a friend request (which I approved), then sent me direct messages through Facebook Messenger. We communicated back & forth yesterday regarding pricing & proceeded to set up an appointment, at which time I provided him with my home address & cell phone number. Shortly afterwards, I started to get a bad feeling about it, so I wanted to read some reviews. At that time I realized he didn't even provide the name of his company (which I admit I should have noticed earlier as a red flag.) So after asking him for the name, not only could I not find any reviews, but I couldn't even find his website. After requesting the web address from him, I thought that the site looked legitimate at first, until I reached the contact page. Their email address is spelled wrong: '...corperation' & although they list several cities which they service, not a single one lists their own business address. The only other ways to initiate contact with them are by phone or through their website contact form (which is labelled 'Schedule a Call'.) So this raised another red flag for me, as it appears they do not want forms of traceable communication. Later that evening, I wanted to check his Facebook profile to see if we had any mutual friends or anything that would make me feel more secure about the situation, only to find that he had already unfriended me. I suspect that he clued into my suspicions after I asked him for his website. So today I contacted him again to say "I'm sorry to have wasted your time, but I'm going to have to cancel our appointment." His reply was (in 2 parts): "But Why" "May I know why you canceled your appointment any good reason". A very unprofessional response in my opinion. At the time of writing you, I have not yet replied to his last message. I am concerned that if I say the wrong thing, he may be more inclined to target me further. Also, as I'm writing this, I visited the website again & am now noticing more issues on their 'About' page: "Not keeping ducts clean can affect indoor air quality, making spaces unfit for habitation. Tenants and employees falling ill can be catastrophic and could open you to lawsuits. Exercitationem sunt condimentum. Adipisicing semper eros, doloremque eiusmod delectus proin! Experienced & Professional Reference Checked Interviewed In-Person Honest And Dependable Insured & Bonded" As you can see, they randomly changed languages. And they're clearly on the defensive about making themselves seem trustworthy, because in my opinion, they are not! Not to mention, when you zoom into the team photo, the door behind them says ******** ********. All that to say, the more I see & explain to you, the more I am convinced that this is a scam. Perhaps it's a business that just does poor work...or perhaps they go into people's homes to scope out the space & return later to rob them. I am very glad that I cancelled the appointment, but feel rather insecure knowing they already have my home address. If you have any advice for me, please let me know. Phishing
The Scammer called posing as a law clerk from "your real estate agency's lawyer" after the recent sale of my house. The caller had a very strong Indian accent and asked to speak to, trailed off, and made an incoherent noise. I asked what the call was regarding seeing as I had spoken to my lawyer several times and this individual had not properly confirmed who I was, something seamed amiss. The presumably female caller proceeded to asked to confirm the signing details of my home sale. My lawyers office had booked the appointment through a secure portal during our last phone call to ensure confidentiality and simplicity. This made the call very suspicious. I asked the caller why they were unable to access my account information through the cannels we had previously been using and the caller got adjugated. I did not provide the confidential information and the caller became very rude and expressed that they were in a hurry and needed me to be more forthcoming. When I asked them their name they provided the name 'Geetanjali Dave' but where unable to confirm my name or my lawyers name. At this point I hung up

I applied for a personal assistant job add through indeed.ca -- The "recruiter" took my name and address from my resume and told me I had the "job" without verifying any references, meeting me in person or even a phone call. The "recruiter" claimed his name was Gary White. Gary sent me e-mails indicating I had been given the "job" and that he was to send me a starting bonus as well as money to purchase a laptop and office supplies. I had e-mailed him asking several questions about the business and did not get any responses to my e-mails. He then started texting me asking if I had received the e-mails. 3 days later he mailed a check (not certified) by registered mail to my address. As soon as he realized the envelope was received (due to it being registered) he was in constant contact by email asking if I had followed the instructions in regards to depositing the check he had sent so that I would use the funds to "purchase the laptop" and "business supplies". I had a feeling this was a scam since the beginning, however now this was abundantly clear as the check for $2,400 was not certified, nor did the "business" information match the so called "consulting business" he operated as an entrepreneur. The check itself was apparently issued by an international bank called ICICI BANK CANADA located in Scarborough, Ontario. The check was issued from a supposed company called "Amen Gospel Media". This had nothing to do with the so-called "consulting firm" that Gary White owned and operated. All of his e-mails had poor spelling and grammar. He did not answer any specific questions. The address he sent the registered mail (the check) was a rental apartment in a shady neighbourhood near strip clubs in Hamilton. None of this added up. I have shredded the check and blocked Gary's email and phone numbers. Please take caution, especially on job websites like Indeed where supposed "employers" have access to your address and phone number. Always take caution.
