Foreign Money Exchange
A fax to my business of an unclaimed “Payable-on-Death” sum in an exorbitant amount of money from someone claimed to be one of their clients who worked for Energy Company in Canada. Allegedly, this distant relative I’d never heard of died of some tragic accident many years ago. The fax contains a veiled threat of a timeline during which I am to respond in order to claim the money or “the abandoned property” must be turned over to the state since it has been 8 years since the death. They even have the nerve to speak to how the money should be divided with 10% going to charity while the remaining 90% WILL be shared between us. Interesting choice of words there. In fact, the entire letter is poorly worded with grammatical errors throughout.
