Employment Scam
I had originally applied to a job posting for data entry on indeed.com. I was an emailed by this company and told to download the Signal app in order to contact/have an interview with Vivian Hughes. I was asked a multitude of questions but when I try to ask pertinent questions, they never really had a clear answer. When asked if there’s an HR number I can call they never replied back.

Regards, Hunter Timothy Reliable Security Service"s" Apparently this a very common scam. I located several postings stating the similar thing with the exact verbiage and details. Sigh. If a job reaches out and says they’ll have you buy equipment via check its 100% a scam. This exact verbiage is also unfortunately the focus of a variety of fraudulent job postings. DO NOT deposit the check, send money, or give out your personal information and pay attention to the senders email addresses. Always cross reference the job posting on the company’s site with the email you got as well. But yes this 9.8/10 a scam.

Applied to a data entry job, received an interview with the same Ms. Vivian Hughes, as someone else did on here, yet it was for a different company. It’s a company trying to impersonate Marathon Oil. The email told me to download the signal app and enter the code 6068983641, just as the other person on here had mentioned, which is odd if you ask me. How can the same hiring manager work for these two different companies? But anyways, there was no legitimate way to contact the company, and their website they posted had no legitimate way of contacting the company, so most likely a shell put up for whatever scam they are running. It was almost word for word in the email as the other person on here had mentioned when you Google 606-898-3641 and it brings you to the BBB scam tracker website.

No bank account info was given beside my name and address. And once I thought everything went well, she said she’ll mail me a check for working materials but the check never arrived because FedEx is flagging it. So that’s when I became suspicious to why a check is being flagged. I started doing my research and put in the phone number “606-898-3641” and it brought me this. Please be on the look out for these scammers.

When I googled the company’s name, I could not find one reputable website. I did find this website with the exact email someone else received but the companies name were different.
