Puppy scam
My elderly parents found this link on facebook where a 10 week old puppy was being advertised for sale by a Belinda Jayne Welch who said she would deliver the puppy to my parents or a shipping company would. As their daughter I started to suspect suspicious behavior on the part of this Administrator of the site. My mom said she no longer wanted this puppy. She was hounded until this person said she could pay for the puppy when it was delivered. First she was told she could pay by Zelle. As the day went on, she was then told that this Adminstrator's Zelle was down and she could accept Walmart Money Cards. This all started at 8:30 a.m. This Administrator told my mother that the puppy would be delivered by 2:30, then it was 5:30, then it was 8:00, then it was 11:00. At 5:30 my parents went and got the Walmart Money Cards ($600 worth). As the night went on the Administrator continued to say that the puppy was on its way. I convinced my mother to cancel. She tried to cancel and this person continued to harass her and tell her to take pictures of the front and back of the Visa cards. This went on until I reported the site to Facebook and blocked her from my mother's telephone number. I will also add, this person created a fake shipping form from another scammer, which I have reported to the Washington D.C. Better Business Bureau. This has created irreparable damage to my elderly parents. As of this morning, the site was still up (on Facebook) until I personally sent an email to this person through my employment, which is a lawfirm.

Matthew and Matthews / Dollar General (Imposter)
A man called my mother's phone asking for me, which is odd since I do not live with her. She gave me the phone number so I called it back, he answered with "Hi, can I help you?" I told him my name and said that someone was trying to reach me on my Mother's phone, he asked for my mom's phone number so he could "look me up in their system." He then said I wrote a check to Dollar General back in 2016 that bounced and if I didn't pay it today, they would be making a judgement against me to take me to court for $300.00. I told him I've never spent that much at Dollar General and he said when I initially wrote the check, it was for a smaller amount but Dollar General can charge up to $300.00 for bounced checks. I then asked where he was calling from and he said Matthew and Matthews. I asked if he could send me a bill or an email stating this so I knew how to pay them, he told me he couldn't do that since I never responded to their initial letters. He was able to tell me my address and which Dollar General I made the "transaction" at. I told him if there is going to be a judgement against me then I will wait for the courts to contact me. He also stated that he can lower the amount I owe to $200.00 if I pay them today, of course over the phone with my credit card. I ended up hanging the phone up on him and called the Dollar General Corporate office to let them know that there is a scam going around using their business name.

caller said he was from Amazon security, and was notifying me of a $60 fraudulent charge on my amazon account. He told me to check my amazon account, and in fact a fraudulent charge appeared. He gained access to my computer, told me there were 157 hackers attempting to get in to it, and to help him secure my computer, I was told to go to Kroger and buy a Target gift card for $500. He said within 5 minutes there would be a $500 refund on the credit card I used to buy the gift card. Unfortunately, I did as I was told. He told me to scratch off the card number, take a photo, and text it to him. I did. He said the number of hackers had been reduced through this process, but many were remaining. He said to buy 4 more Target gift cards at $500 each, and do the same thing. Scratch off the security codes, take a pic of all 4, and text him the photo. I did. Now more hackers had been stopped, but some remained. He told me to buy 6 more gift cards. I said NO, I'm done. I disconnected him and called my credit card, told them I believed Iwas being scammed. They placed a hold on my account, and removed the $500, and the $2000 charges. However, those charges have since been re-posted to my credit card, because in fact I purchased the gift cards. Because I personally purchased them, regardless of who told me to do so, I am liable, and must pay. Expensive lesson.
