Scam
My name is Sophia Henrion. I am a 29 year old female, who is a full-time worker and a full-time student. I currently live in Hampton, VA. However, I am originally from Oklahoma (Midwest city born). Well, back in Aug 2020, my boyfriend proposed to me, and of course, I said yes! I was so excited to start planning my wedding, and due to the fact that a piece of my heart will always remain in Oklahoma, on top of the fact that, my whole family still lives in Oklahoma, I HAD to have my wedding in Oklahoma (not Virginia). I planned for an entire year, on top of working full time, going to school full-time AND, I was training for a bodybuilding competition (it is a hobby of mine). I found a food truck that we loved and wanted to hire for our wedding, but unfortunately, the owner of the food truck got very ill with COVID and 3 months prior to my wedding, had to cancel on us. With this woman almost dying from COVID, i completely understood and held no grudges against this women. Well, that began my hunt once again for a caterer. My mother, who knows I was overwhelmed with planning and school and work and bodybuilding, she wanted to help alleviate as much stress of me as she could. So my mother found a post made by a woman named Sara Sexton. This woman had stated in her facebook post that she catered and did all sorts of last minute events. So, I reached out to her on one of my work breaks. When I called this woman, and told her of my situation (getting married and just lost our caterer and have 3 months to find someone else), Sara SWORE to me that she wouldn’t cancel, she said I could call her day and night, and just sounded all-around like she wasnt going to screw me over. Sara knew I was a full-time student, full-time worker and bodybuilder, she knew these things. With Sara knowing this, and my mom wanting to help me out with my plate-load of stress, all contact with Sara got somewhat switched over to my mother. My mother and Sara had planned out an entire meal menu for my wedding, and my mother even sent my dad to go give CASH (840.00) to Sara. However, Sara was not home when my dad dropped off the money, but her mother-in-law, husband and child was home. My father was given a receipt from Marla (Sara’s mother-in-law), and told him he would need to pay the balance a day or two before the wedding. When I finally arrived in Oklahoma a week before my wedding, it was all hands on deck to try and get the barn decorated (yes, my now husband, and I got married in my parents barn). It was hectic, yes, but I still tried to reach out to Sara. I called Sara on a Tuesday to try and see if she would come out to Crescent (my parents live there, which is also where my parents barn in), and Sara just tried to make it seem like she was too busy, but she could do a FaceTime call. Which, honestly, was a bit strange. My parents had already paid her a lump-sum of money, so I didn’t understand why Sara wouldn’t just drive out to my parents house; after all, she was suppose to come cater there a few days later, so it would make sense for her to come out and see the venture aka my parents home. Well, when she made it clear that she was busy that day, my family and I went straight back to work on decorating the barn. Wednesday rolled around, and I was greeted by the worst news I could’ve gotten 3 days before my wedding; My dog/best friend died. My dog was suppose to be one of my brides maids, and here she was dead before my eyes. I sulked on the floor for two hours with my husband, just gripping onto our baby in disbelief. When two hours had passed, it was time for me and my husband to take her to get cremated. And this is when Sara called. I answered the phone sadly, and Sara asked what was wrong. I immediately began crying again and explained that I just lost my dog. She told me she was sorry and she would let me call her back. Finding my dog dead, and then mourning, with going to have her cremated, took about 4-5 hours out of our day that day. When we got home from cremating our baby, we had to kick it back into gear to try and have this barn finished and ready for us to get married in. So I did not hear from Sara again that day (I am at fault for that one; i was just so consumed with the fact that I lost my dog and it was SO unexpected). Well, Thursday comes. We had family from Virginia who all drove and flew in to Oklahoma that day. Due to everyone arriving, and i am the bride, I had to entertain guests! As well as my parents, who were hosting all these people. I had to get my nails done, pickup last minute things and at night we all went to have our rehearsal dinner, and even met with the DJ who drove all the way out to the rehearsal dinner to go over things with me and my husband. Didn’t hear from Sara at all (and let me remind you, she has my number; with how busy I was, as the bride, she could’ve called or texted me, but she did not). So its officially Friday, the DAY BEFORE my wedding. I’m running around town with my sister, making sure we have everything from marriage license to the wedding cake being done. As I am out getting a few pumpkins (had to have pumpkins for a fall wedding!), I get a phone call from my father who is saying everybody needed to come back to the house ASAP. No one wanted to tell me what was happening. When my sister and I arrived at my parents house, we saw my entire family speaking and that is when i am told that SARA CANCELED ON CATERING MY WEDDING 19 HOURS BEFORE MY WEDDING! Sara said there was not enough “communication” and so her manager had to pull the ticket on my wedding. Very strange thing to use as a reason to cancel on someone wedding, especially with the fact that Sara had the address to the venue, Sara knew there would be a kitchen to set up and cook in if she needed, Sara knew what time the wedding was, and Sara also had already set-up an entire menu with me and my mother. Not to mention, Sara was already paid money, that of which was OVER half of the entire total. Once Sara had canceled, we reached out to find out why, and aside from saying that their “wasnt enough communication”, it was stated that Sara NEEDED to know the “Temperature control”. When she was already made aware that the food would be set up in the house, so to inquire about Temperature control did not make any sense to me or my family. After being canceled on 19 hours before my wedding, it came to the realization that my father would now have to cater my wedding, when he was suppose to enjoy my wedding instead of working it. Luckily, my dad managed to save the day, but unfortunately he had to go out and buy hundreds of dollars worth of food to do so. When my mother reached out to get a refund (because it was never stated in ANY document that they could cancel on us AND keep our money), Sara and her “coworkers” all tried to ignore us and block us on social media platforms so we couldn’t reach out to them. At first, they offered a refund and even asked how to return the money. They wanted to give us a check, but because they wouldn’t accept a check and had to be given cash, my parents wanted CASH back. Then, nothing. We have all reached out to try and get the money back, but they are refusing to work with us on that, saying they don’t have to give any money back due to US being the ones who didn’t keep in contact with them. There was never a signed contract that said they could cancel on us, and still keep all our money. So now, I am writing to the BBB of Oklahoma to try and stop this fraudulent company from stealing from other brides/grooms on their big day. I also want to try and prevent any hard working mothers and fathers from getting their money stolen when they just want to give their child an amazing wedding day. -Sophia Henrion

Tech Support Pop-up Scam
Customer tried logging on to her computer and was not able to. A pop-up screen appeared and the customer was instructed to call a phone number so that they could provide tech support and get her computer fixed. The customer contacted the number provided and the gentleman "fixed" her computer and then provided wire instructions and request that she wire $15,000 to cover invoice for tech support.
