Advance Fee Loan
received multiple messages & calls from a Mr Charlie Williams from Ace Cash Express for a loan. Mr Williams insisted they were legit & I did look them up online. Mr Williams called me from 512-547-1837 to advise me that they had to send verification amount of $400 to my account & for me to send it back before loan funds would be deposited. Advised caller that I was duped into a scam before & did not feel comfortable continuin. Looked company name up in google & obtained a toll free number & was advised by lady that they do no do business in my state & that the caller was a fraud.

IRS phishing Scam
A local BBB inquirer reported to BBB by phone that she received a threatening phone call that initially seemed like it was from the IRS. The caller referred to himself as Officer David Walker and had a foreign sounding accent. The caller indicated she owed a significant amount of money to the IRS and that there was a court case she should have received info about. He even provided a case number, #CF8511 and expressed she'd be arrested if not resolved immediately. The caller reported she had been on disability since 2008 and there was no way she owed any money. She was startled, but did not provide any personal info.
