A woman called me (unsolicited) and said she was from Eversource. She was phishing for my account number in order to get a credit on my next electric bill. I did not give her any information and thank goodness. I just followed-up with the real Eversource customer support representative and he told me that with just that modest amount of information (my account number) that 3rd party energy vendors could transfer my utility from Eversource to their service. The real Eversource customer support representative told me that this is a scam and it has been reported to the Attorney General.

A woman has been calling my repeatedly, and I finally picked up today. When I picked up, she said she was from Eversource, and I need to tell her my account number in order to get a credit on my next electric bill. When I said I was driving and didn't have my bill, she said "I'll just wait for you to get your bill." I told her again that I was out and would have to call her back, and she said she didn't have a direct line and that the summer is coming and I'd be sorry if I didn't give her my account number right then.
