Tech Support My 81 year old Father received a phone call from Xfinity that there have been router problems in the neighborhood and that they needed to get on his computer to check the account and would receive a $400 target gift card for the troubles. The person then gave a website for my Dad to access and enter the code to take over the computer. Success. My step mother then entered the room to find the summary statement of the bank accounts up on the screen. She terminated the call.I advised they call the bank/credit union to shut down the accounts. Which we did and no money was lost. This has been a 5 day process helping an 81 year old reestablish accounts, government direct deposits all online. Not to mention the mental anguish they suffered from really doing nothing wrong other than trusting the person from Xfinity was trying to help. I have reviewed cyber security protocol again with my Dad. Let this be a reminder it can happen to anyone in a weak moment. 4104042274
