I posted my car for sale on Craigslist and the following day a person who identified themself as Harvey texted me about interest in purchasing my car. I live in Michigan and he lived in Ohio but claimed he was coming to visit his parents in Michigan and would stop by to see the car. However, he insisted that I send him an evincheck for the car which I didn't know what that was at the time. I sent them a CARFAX report but they actually sounded angry at me and said a CARFAX doesn't have the original DMV information (which it actually does) and insisted I send them an evincheck report. I researched evincheck and found an evincheck.com website which was actually just created April 2023 (after looking up the domain name). After more research I found evincheck.com had been identified as a scam on the Scam Watcher website. I sent the scammer the Scam Watcher link and didn't hear from them again. If I would have attempted to purchase a VIN check report through the website they would have my credit card info and who knows how much money they would have charged up. I just want to make sure another unsuspecting car seller doesn't fall for this scam.
