The initial contact was a request for construction work at their home and seemed somewhat normal like the other person who also experienced this scam reported. They followed up with an email stating that they already purchased the materials and wanted a labor only estimate without anyone seeing the house and they could only be reached via email and they are out of town.

I get these about once every couple of months. They basically tell me they want repairs or home improvements on a home that is not theirs and they tried their scams this was one of them starting with him texting back and forth I actually went to the house and the lady that lived there said they just bought the house a year ago and they're not selling they have no idea what I'm talking about This was texting. Phishing
Responded to my Facebook Marketplace listing asking to communicate via text. Then asked to send me a code to verify post. When my phone number wouldn't be accepted, "Emma" kept pushing me to give them a landline or family member's phone number. Also asked if I wanted to use PayPal, Venmo or CashApp.
