One of the more elaborate scams I’ve seen online. Using a Comcast email address and a very professional looking website with address and local phone number. Man answering the phone had a distinct African accent. They posted a beautiful Yamaha jet boat on BoatTrader.com at a substantial discount. Here is the email I received from them: Hello again and sorry for late reply, As I have told you in previous email I just divorced. During divorce I had to move out from my ex husband house and now I am living temporary with my son in town here. All options on this boat are in working order. There are no structural or electrical problems. The interior is in pristine condition as you may see in the pictures. No mechanical issues at all. She starts easily and restart easily all the day. There aren't any service indicators or warning lights on. All professional service records and owner manuals are available. Clean and clear title in my name It comes along with a trailer, with new brakes, and also clean title. I past thru an ugly divorce,the Court awarded me with this boat and free to go anytime and collect it from his house in Detroit. I'm very glad I took it, this was my ex-husband's most precious thing. He cheated on me although we have 3 kids together. Anyway, I don't want to bore you with my life's story... In these crazy times and travel bans or social distance, I chose to sell it from where it is and I have signed a consignment agreement with Connect Auto Shippers, to pick the boat for me because i will never go back at his house in Detroit,MI They are a consignment service for vehicles and large items mostly. Now my boat is already located at one of Connect Auto Shippers facilities in Detroit, along with clear title which is already back signed by me and notarized for the transfer to the new owner. A woman was advertising her Mercedes SLK Convertable on AUTO TRADER. We responded to Auto Trader, where we then received an email from this woman who was going through a divorce, just received a promotion with American Airlines, and moved from Butler, PA to Detroit, MI. She had her car go through a 3rd party holding company (WMotors Freight) where seller said that the car would to ship the car and that there is no risk of fraud due to the “escrow” service offered through this company. We wired $10,500 through our bank to an escrow account. We NEVER RECEIVED OUR VEHICLE, never had anymore communication between us and the seller or us and the company!
