Online Purchase
I was sent an email confirmation that the pup that I purchased from Christensen’s Family Poos (a pretend small business dog breeder that scammed me) is now ready for shipping via air cargo. I also received a phone call from 252-679-8172 which left a voicemail stating the same information and I may contact them for any questions. About three hours later, this company emailed me stating that the pup is on hold and would need a thermal crate for safe transport and offered three pricing for different size crates. This company was urging me to pick a crate and insists payment through Zelle and that I was wasting so much time and the pup is waiting to catch the flight. The provided Zelle information was to make payment to a Christopher Karcher, with email: [email protected]. I sent a trial $1, as I was already starting to get suspicious of the transaction which isn’t seemingly reflecting a big business company based on the email and preferred form of payment. I originally provided my credit card information, but the company stated that they will be “refunding 98% of the funds” immediately after the pup’s arrival to the destination, transport company implied that Zelle was the easiest way to refund the money back to me. Due to the time sensitivity this company had placed on me, while Zelle has a safety feature of reviewing transactions that can take up to 4 hours, my instinct made me think this was a scammer working with the small business company that I just ordered the pup from. At this point i made the decision to direct the issue to the seller, wherein that small business company seized all communications with me.
