Worthless Problem-solving Service
On April 9, 2024 I was involved in a vehicle collision. Ironically there was a towing truck near the scene. The towing truck belongs to the business owner known as Jose Rodriguez. Jose Rodriguez employees a man named Joe. Joe, was the one to approach me at the scene. As me and the other driver were exchanging information Joe kept hassling me about inquiring his services. He said he could tow my vehicle to his shop because he also does body work and that my insurance would cover it because he makes his money off collision insurance. He also kept insisting that my car was not drive able and that if I drove it I would proceed to make the damages worse. At the time I was on my way to school anxious to make my way to class I agreed to Joe towing my vehicle to his shop he gave me his business card and shared the location of which my car would be at. On 4/10/24 I made my way to Joe’s “shop” as I arrived I realized I had been lied to. The “shop” was a laundry mat in which Jose Rodriguez illegally stores his cars at. He shares this location with the business owners at “Alert Cleaners”. When I asked Joe where the body shop was at he claimed it was at another location. He then proceeded to tell me that it would be better to get my car fixed at the dealership (Mercedes Benz). He then tried to talk me into obtaining a lawyer so that I could make a personal injury complaint. He explained that he had made a personal injury claim before and that he could tell me exactly what to say so that I could get paid. I told him I did not feel comfortable with doing that because I in fact was not hurt. I did not feel safe speaking to him anymore and asked him how much I owed him for towing my vehicle. He said that I did not owe him anything, he said he could tell I was a nice girl and that he just wanted to help me. I told him thanks but that it would be some days until my adjuster settled the liability because she was out of office. He said that’s fine when you figure it out with the insurance I’ll tow it to Mercedes Benz for you. At this point I still believed my car was undriveable so I agreed. 10 days later my insurance adjuster finally returns establishes liability and says that the other driver is denying being at fault. So until I go to mediation all of my expenses will be out of pocket. Immediately after learning this I reached out to Joe and asked how much it would be to tow my car to Mercedes Benz he said $500 dollars on top of the $5,000 you already owe me. I was baffled I questioned him and asked him why he felt I owed him so much. He then proceeded to tell me a bunch of charges which were miscellaneous and said he was charging me 255$ a day for storage. I told him I would have never left my car with him had I known he was charging me 255$ verbally he never expressed this nor did he say he would charge me to keep my car. I live in a private community I could keep my car at my personal garage. I never needed his services he continuously forced me to receive what I thought was help. I called the non emergency police department but they said that in California towing companies are allowed to charge wat they want I also called the department of motor vehicles to see what I could do that is when I learned that Joe had called in to make a lean on my car not even within 10 days of my car being there. When I told him I could not afford to pay him $5000 he said let me just talk to your insurance and you won’t have to pay anything. Again I did not feel comfortable with that. I had to ask my dad to talk to him and he was able to talk him down to $3000 dollars which is still outrageous. I’m a college student and my dad is a retired veteran we don’t have that kind of money. From the beginning I should have just called my towing company thru my insurance but because Joe was there and made it seem like my car was not drive able I got scammed into a predatory towing situation. I have recorded conversations with Joe where he explains the charges and you can hear him stumbling and making lies I also have a receipt which he claims I signed and I never did. I also have an invoice he made with charges that don’t even make sense. Just to tow my vehicle to his “shop” alone was $1000 plus a $500 fee for damaged vehicle I’m so hurt and distraught that someone could hold my car against me like that.

Recieved phone call on Friday 2023-12-08 at 7:31pm Eastern, from a "process server" @ (213) 471-7428 who gave me no information other than asking if I would be home in 45 minutes to receive a summons. Told me it was in regard to a lawsuit being filed against me. Which was very scary to hear. They told me to call another number for "Sullivan and Associates" at (866) 780-1871 for more details. I called and was told there was a 20 year old debt on a loan that I still owed and there was a January 8th impending court date, at which point they would sue me for $15,000 (their exact words). If I wished to handle my debt and avoid that, I could pay the "original settlement amount that I have avoided". I'll detail that more in another BBB report on the other number. They asked if my address is one that I haven't lived in for about 15 years (on a later call, they asked about an address I lived in about 10 years ago instead). I have asked them for identifying information about their legal business name, main street address, and contact phone number. Each time I have attempted this one of three things happened: 1) I was put on hold indefinitely (at one point, I was on hold for 40 minutes before I hung up that line, which I have a recording of). I called a second time using a different phone while the first phone call was still on hold. 2) I was told to stop being belligerent and aggressive (I was not being such). 3) I was hung up on. I recorded these calls as is legal in my state. They kept attempting to verify my address. I avoided as much as I could, using language that made any identifying information clear but they are very good at what they do and I may have let an address or phone number slip (though they called me in the first place so...) I have been told three times now that since "I refuse to cooperate", "am attempting to avoid my debt", and won't pay up to Sullivan and Associates, I will be served. No one has yet shown up.
