Purchase Scam
I thought I was ordering CBD from the real cookies company but it turns out if was a fake copy site. They texted me to say their payment system was down and we needed to use CashApp. I sent $207 initially and then was told I needed to pay another $153 for insurance which would be refunded as soon as delivery was made. I paid the $153 but was then told nmI needed to pay another $250 for a license fee at this point I was certain I was scammed. Of course, the product never came and both CashApp and my bank Huntington refused to refund me the money since I made the transactions through CashApp linked to my debit card.

I was contacted by this website and sent a cashiers check with instructions on what to do. I text messaged the number on the instructions saying that I was no longer interested in the job and he told me that I needed to send the money back through paypal. So I deposited the check and sent the money the next day. A few days later I got an email from my bank stating that the check was unauthorized and the bank that the check came from detracted the money from the check out of my account. The man that I was communicating with has not responded and stole my $2,000.

I am an architect and I received a text message from a person claiming to be "Thomas" who said he needed designs for a new house. He gave unsolicited detail of what he needed. I never promised him that I would do the work, or that I was even interested. There were several red flags...first he said he couldn't meet with me because his wife was recovering from surgery and confined to a wheelchair. Then he gave me the address to the lot he was going to build on in Bryan. But, I looked up the lot for the address he gave and it's owned by a mortgage company. Further, I told him the size house he described would not fit on that lot.

He said his budget was $500,000-$950,000, but then changed it to $1.5 million. I told him I couldn't agree to design something or tell him what my fees would be without meeting with him and understanding what I was designing. The neighborhood he gave the address for is full of little houses built in the 1940s. There's no way anyone would build a $1.5 million house there. I told him I'd need a survey of the property and he could get that going until whatever time he could meet me. He said he could get me the surveyor's information. I thought that was the end of it. He started the conversation back up today and asked for a "favor". He said he needed me to help him get the survey until he returned from his trip...(remember previously it was his wife in the hospital, but now he's gone on a trip).

I played along to see where this was going. He said the surveyor would come meet me, but that he did not have credit card processing. So, "Thomas" wanted me to agree to charge him (Thomas) $14,000 on his credit card and forward $9,000 to the surveyor through a cashier's check. He said I could keep $5,000 as a deposit for my retainer. He then asked me what credit card merchant I use. ( I don't even accept credit cards, but I thought I'd string him along until he gave more of his scheme). I asked him who his surveyor was because there was no way a surveyor would charge $9,000 for a boundary survey of that tiny little lot. So I told him he was ripped off. He replied that he had paid 90% of the bill but the balance was $9,000. I pointed out that he got ripped off worse than I thought because if he paid 90% and owed $9,000 more, then he's saying a surveyor charged him $90,000. He backtracked and he didn't pay that much, but just owed him $9,000. I asked for about the 3rd time who the surveyor was. He said he was busy and would give me the documents as soon as he received payment. I just said, "Who is he? Are you unable to tell me his name?". He gave me the name "Garcia David" and said, "any problem?". I responded that I think he was scammed because there is no registered land surveyor named David Garcia (or Garcia David), and I asked for David Garcia's phone number, so I could help him get to the bottom of this and get his money back. He never responded so I told him that I knew he was running a scam and that his story was full of holes. That's where our communication ended. From the poor grammar and other clues, I assume that this is someone who does not speak English as a first language. I don't think anyone would be stupid enough to give this guy any money, but you never know.

I was to purchase Itunes gift cards in the amount of $750 dollars from two stores and not any for over $100. The letter then instructed me to fill out a little questioner and scratch of the foil in the back of the card along with along with the receipt to [email protected] and [email protected].
