GIE Medical impostor
I was contacted by phone number 209-356-9118 though text. Identified as Mrs. Rita Palmer from the company GIE Medical. Stated that I had been scheduled for an interview, and I told her I had not known an interview was scheduled. She informed me it was for vacant positions for Data Entry Clerk, Customer service representative, technical specialist, administrative assistant, billing clerk and accounts payable. She then asked for my email address to forward it to the interview manager, then proceeded to instruct me to use Microsoft Teams to do the interview. Then I was contacted by a Dr. Albert Palmer, with a slew of information and questions explaining the company and confirming my qualifications for the said job. Then I was instructed to reach out to him the next day, which I did but not before doing some research and found this exact job on the BBB website, and reports on Reddit stating that this was a scam offer. Because it seemed very thought out, I hoped that wasn't the case. The next day I was sent an offer letter from and email address that had obvious spelling errors. So, I requested a phone number to the HR department to verify the information. I was asked what information did I need to verify and from there I stopped getting responses. I've seen on public forums that good people hardworking people are losing money over this company sending checks to cover equipment cost and the check bouncing. I hope this can be put to a stop.

Applied for remote jobs on Indeed. Next day I received a text “ Hello, I am Mrs. Gia Ben-Hur from the Human Resources Department at GIE Medical. I am pleased to inform you that your Your resume has been reviewed by our Recruiting Department, and we are impressed. You have been selected for an interview. Please confirm your availability by responding with 'YES I AM.'” I assumed it was a response from Indeed which I trusted, so I responded. They then had me follow a link to Microsoft Teams to communicate. Knowing it was a remote position, I didn’t suspect anything. I chatted with, who I was told would be the person doing the interview, Mrs. Sarah Evans. We chatted and scheduled an interview via Microsoft teams. During the interview, the questions were very straight forward and seem pretty legit. She did not ask personal information except for name, state, town, and age which I expected. She went through the job positions, pay, training, and the full story of who they were and how the daily job would go. I was applying for the Data Entry position. It wasn’t until I asked about the equipment until it got suspicious. I asked if the equipment would be shipped or if I would need to use a personal computer through training. With this job being a medical company, I knew they would only send their equipment for security reasons. She stated “ You will be making the purchase of your working materials and the company will provide the funds needed for this purchase.” I asked her if there was I way I could call her so that I could be sure it was a legitimate offer, she stopped responding and got offline.

I hope I am in direct contact with ____?)). She gave me directions to download MS TEAMS and speak with Sarah Evans about the position. Here is some of the interaction ((Before we proceed, I would like to learn more about you. This would help me categorize you and best interview you. I am Ms. Sarah Evans, age 48, the interviewer for GIE Medical. I am part of the recruitment team. Please introduce yourself briefly and include your name, state, and city. To facilitate the seamless delivery of the working equipment to your designated house address, there is a corresponding shipping cost of $250. We kindly request that you make this payment directly to our trusted vendor. This step ensures the efficient processing and shipment of the essential working materials. Your cooperation in this matter is highly appreciated)). Sarah Evans had me meet her on MS TEAMS three different days to discuss the job. She got my full name, address, phone number and email in order to be able to send me the working materials. Once, I told her that I didn't have the $250 for the shipping costs, she stopped responding to me. Very elaborate scheme over three days time using text, email and letter of offer and MS TEAMS.
